YOU DID IT!!! You accomplished your goal of the 1st Annual Scleroderma Walk/Run in memory of Randy. And what an accomplishment it was! Look at what your hard work and incredible determination has done and will do for the individuals living with this disease. We all knew you could do it! Your drive in making Randy’s mission happen is inspirational. We are all so proud of you, as we know Randy is too! He surely is SMILING down on us all today!

You were worried after you lost Randy that everyone would go back to their lives and leave you behind to find your “new normal” with Alek. It is our hope that this event and the preparation leading up to it, has shown you that you were not left behind. We know that we can not fill the void that Randy left in your life but we are all here for you and Alek whenever and wherever you need us. Just put out the call, text, e-mail, or blog post and we’ll all come running! Hopefully, knowing this provides you with some comfort. WE LOVE YOU!! FINAL MEETING BEFORE THE BIG DAY!!! A LITTLE ANGEL SHOWED UP WITH A BIG DELIVERY

Tonight's meeting at the event spot went very well. I had a great turn out, which has been a blessing. I love the idea that this walk has brought me close to people that I have not seen or spoken to in years. I am trying to keep myself busy and together for the most part, but I am finding I am less myself. It is hard to believe I will be walking on Sunday in Memory of my very own Husband, my sons Father. It floors me. I tell Alek we are on our way to a meeting for Da-Da's walk and then I think to myself, he has no idea what that really means. One day he will and he will be proud to be able to walk in it for his father..........

So among the meeting was a beautiful child Alyssa Waters. Her mother and her have been coming to the meetings and Alyssa has been very helpful with the little kiddos running around. She is only 9 and has a huge heart and is so motherly. Her father and I coach together and he was also my coach in HS. So, she comes up to me tonight and hands me this envelope. You can read what it says below...........

THERE IS AN ANGEL AMONGST US PEOPLE!!!

This little girl raised $520 by asking her teachers at school to sponsor her..........

Bless her heart and I have tears rolling down my face as I write this because she will change lives and that people is what it is all about............Love ya Kid!! and thank you for all your dedication...........

PS. I am working on getting a scrolling bar on the side of this blog with everyone that has donated through the blog and at the walks names up and scrolling...........hopefully soon I will at least have the blog donations up and scrolling

The turn out for our 3rd meeting was flooring.........

It was a sunny, beautiful Wednesday evening and here I had 20-30 people filling our family business to support me with this walk.........I just cannot begin to express how wonderful it was. I kept my emotions in check and we got so much accomplished. I cannot even begin to put it in words how amazing this committee of people has been....

I think the only way to explain it is for people to come to the walk and see for yourself.

I will soon be putting the first list of Online donations that have come in through this pay pal button...........

I cannot even begin to start to thank all the business's, people, and family that have made this so much easier of an event than I expected.

The tri state chapter of the Scleroderma Foundation has been wonderful and so supportive.

I cannot wait to see everyone at the walk and I hope I can not be on an emotional overload that day...........

This little boy is going to be very thankful for all of you one day when he can look back and understand that all of you reached out and helped to find a cause and sure for this disease.........

UPDATE;

We officially have had 4 donations and 150 hits in 2 days on this web page......So exciting.

I plan to use this web page to list all the individuals who donated money as well as business's and individuals who donated to the silent auction.

Last nights meeting was wonderful, I am so appreciative to everyone who came.

We are coming up with wonderful ideas, donations are coming in for the Silent Auction, and the Tristate Chapter for the foundation has been extremely helpful.

We will be having a bake sale at the walk if anyone wanted to contribute their wonderful baking skills (not me) you can bring a baked good the day of the walk for the table. I have two volunteers to run that at this point in time.

There will also be Michigan's, chips, and soda for sale.

Water will be free and we will have a few volunteer's along with walk/run handing out bottles of water to individuals who need it.

The 3 mile runners will receive numbers to wear in order to identify them. The first man, woman, and child to finish the 3 mile run will receive a prize.

I have received about 130 RSVP's through Facebook of people who are attending. My goal was to have 50 people at our walk for the first year, can you imagine if we get 100, 200, or even maybe 300. I would be elated and I know my husband would be so happy.

I will be updating as things come up. I hope to continue this blog to keep everyone posted on the local walk and the numbers that all walks from the Tristate Chapter bring in.........

FIRST ANNUAL SCLERODERMA WALK IN MEMORY OF RANDY DUPREY
JUNE 14th, 2009

Entertainment, Music, Food, Raffles, and fun for the kids......

The $20 registration fee goes towards your total donations. Everyone that register's whether they can afford the registration fee or not gets a free bag and t-shirt. If you have $250 in donations you get two stainless steel travel mugs. Early registration is not an option this year for our participants, but do not worry about the fee if you cannot afford it come and give what you can even if it is your presence. People under the age of 18 do not have to pay the $20 registration fee, but can bring their donations. They still receive a bag and a t-shirt. The event is not only to raise money for research, but also to raise awareness of the disease.
The walk/run will be 1,2, or 3 miles, which every you choose to do. If you cannot walk/run you can sit back and enjoy the music being played by Shameless Strangers and the AppleJack Country. I am also pretty sure their may be a few songs done by Randy's Brother, Father, and Grandfather. I have yet to see them be in a place where there are guitars and microphones and not get up and play a few tunes.....
